This is how people make bricks here, it is basically mud...nope just mud! We shape it into bricks and dry it in the sun!!
Your uncle Steven Peck would probably know what type of insect that is. I'm surprised they don't add some straw to the bricks. Of course I don't really know that is needed. Great pictures. I just love seeing all you do. Love, Grandma Awbrey
